I was driving through Utah and I suddenly came to a complete halt. I saw a huge horizon of white. I thought at first it could be clouds. Then I thought it was a mirage. But when I took a closer look, I saw that it was sand.It looked like the Sahara desert, with heat waves shimmering and everything.
I drove a little closer. Okay, a lot closer. And it was sand! So I thought, like most people, I’m going to drive out there! That’s when I saw the sign.
I got lucky. There were miles and miles and miles of sand. I could have gone out and gotten stuck in all sorts of ways. But I got lucky and found this sign. My favorite part about the sign? It was posted by a “Sheriff’s Posse.” How cool is that? Had I gotten stuck they would have sent a posse after me! Just like the old days! It would have taken awhile though. I was in the middle of the middle of nowhere. So I walked out there. It was like chalk, sort of like how I imagine the moon to be. My boots turned white and it wasn’t long before they got heavy with the fine white glop. So I turned around and trudged back to dry land.
